Actor Delights Audiences

Actor James MacArthur spoke both in Trumbull and Ashtabula counties during early February in conjunction with the One Book, Two Counties project. This community reading effort encourages everyone in those counties to read and discuss the same book: The Light in the Forest by Conrad Richter. Mr. MacArthur had starred in the Disney film version of the book.

During his talks, Mr. MacArthur reminisced about filming the movie and also provided background about how Richter came to write the book and some of the historical realities behind the story. He also answered questions from the audience about everything from his other Disney films to his 11 years on the television series Hawaii Five-O. Autograph sessions followed each talk.

MacArthur spoke at Lakeview High School in Cortland and at Edgewood Senior High School in Ashtabula to appreciative crowds at both sites.

In his remarks, he applauded the One Book, Two Counties concept and encouraged the audience to keep reading. He himself is a voracious reader and always travels with plenty of books and magazines on hand.
