Even if his thatch of snowy white hair was unfamiliar, the hula girls gave the game away as Hawaii Five-O star James MacArthur celebrates the relaunch of 100 of the detective series’ best-loved episodes in London recently.

James, alias Detective Danny Williams, will soon be back on cable TV in shows from the hit series, which was made between 1968 and 1979. But he has also just finished filming a TV pilot which updates the series -- and with his return comes promotion. No longer just the sidekick to police chief Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord -- who famously ordered him to “Book ‘em, Danno” at the end of every show -- this time around James will be playing the governor of Hawaii!

Sadly, Jack Lord won’t be starring alongside his old buddy as the 75-year-old actor is reportedly suffering from the debilitating Alzheimer’s disease.
